Can I book student storage around term dates?

Yes. You can reserve a unit ahead of the end of term for £10, which comes off your first payment, and if you already know when you’ll be back, you can give your notice on the day you sign up so your storage ends when you need it to. The minimum stay is just two weeks, so it works for an Easter or Christmas break as well as a whole summer.

Before term ends

Reserve early, online or by calling us, and our team will be in touch to arrange your move-in. Reserving is handy when exams are on and you know your dates but not much else yet.

To book, you’ll need a photo ID, a copy of a recent utility bill, and an alternate contact who doesn’t live at the same address as you. Our guide to what you need to book has the full list.

Moving in

Access is normally 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, so you can move in early before handing back your keys, or in the evening after the last exam. Free trolleys at every site make the carrying easier.

Paying for the weeks you use

New customers pay no deposit. You pay your first four weeks in advance, plus contents cover if you take ours, and then every four weeks after that, with an invoice emailed 5 to 7 days before each payment. Once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund any days you’ve paid for but not used. Our student storage page shows the unit sizes, and your quote shows any offer running at your site.

Planning your end date

Notice is normally 14 days and needs to be in writing. If you know your return date, you can give notice on the day you sign up, and your storage simply ends on the date you chose. Pick an end date a day or two after you’re back, so you have time to collect everything. Our guide to giving notice shows how to count the days.

If your plans change after you’ve given notice, tell us before your end date and we’ll agree a new date with you in writing. If you’d like to leave sooner, you can clear the unit early, though storage is still charged to the end of your notice.

If a parent is booking

A parent can book the unit and share access with you through smart entry, for a set period or with no end date, so you can drop off and collect your things yourself. At Chipping Norton, which uses padlocks, they share the key and access code instead. Our guide to sharing access explains how.
