Yes, you can clear your unit and leave whenever you’re ready. Storage is still charged up to the end of your notice period, which is normally 14 days, so the sooner you email us, the sooner that end date arrives.
How it works
Your notice period is shown on the front page of your storage agreement. Notice needs to be in writing, so the easiest way is to email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk with your name, your site and unit number, and the date you’d like to leave. Email counts from the day after you send it.
If the date you ask for is sooner than your notice allows, we can charge storage for the days your notice falls short. In practice, that means your storage runs to the end of the notice period, whether the unit is still full or already empty. Anything you’ve paid for beyond that date comes back to you: once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund your unused days.
So if your plans have just moved forward, email us as soon as you know your date. The sooner we hear from you, the fewer days there are to pay for after you’ve moved out.
If you booked online recently
If you booked online or by phone without visiting the site, you have 14 days from the day we confirmed your booking to change your mind. Cancel in that time and you only pay for the storage you’ve actually had. Our guide to cancelling a booking explains how.
If something has changed suddenly
Life doesn’t always give 14 days’ warning. If something has happened that makes your notice hard, call us on 0800 2545585 and talk it through. Any change to your notice period has to be agreed by both of us in writing, so if we can agree a different date, we’ll confirm it by email.
And if you only need less space rather than none, you may not need to leave at all: we can move you to a smaller unit when one is free, which costs less every four weeks.
Before you go
By your end date, please take everything out, including rubbish, leave the unit clean and tidy, and email us to say you’ve cleared it. There are free trolleys to help, and our guide to moving out has the full checklist.
