Your storage simply carries on as long-term storage while you’re away. Payments are taken automatically every four weeks, your belongings stay in your own alarmed unit, and you can give someone at home access so nothing has to wait for your return. A few quick steps before you leave mean you won’t need to think about storage while you’re away.
Before you go
If you only have days, these are the things worth doing:
- Check your payments. If you pay by card or Direct Debit, each payment is taken on its due date with nothing for you to do. If your card will expire while you’re away, call us and we’ll help you update your details or set up Direct Debit.
- Share access with someone you trust. Through smart entry you can give a partner, relative or friend their own access using their mobile number, for a set time or with no end date. At Chipping Norton, which uses padlocks, you give them the key and access codes instead.
- Check your alternate contact. This is the person we’d try if something urgent came up and we couldn’t reach you. It’s someone who doesn’t live with you, so if you’d like to name someone different before you go, email us.
- Check your contents cover still reflects everything in the unit, as it stays in place for as long as your things are stored.
While you’re away
We email your invoice 5 to 7 days before each payment, so you can see what’s coming whenever you’re able to check your email. If a payment doesn’t go through, we’ll contact you with instructions on how to update it. If your phone number, email or address changes, or your alternate contact‘s does, email us at hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk within 48 hours.
Anyone you’ve shared access with can visit from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, to collect something, add a box or clear the unit for you. Your unit has its own alarm, and our CCTV is monitored around the clock by a professional monitoring company.
If your plans change
If you’d rather end your storage, email us your end date. Notice is normally 14 days, and once the unit is empty and checked, we refund any days you’ve paid for but haven’t used. Someone you’ve shared access with can empty it for you. If two people are named on your agreement, notice from either of you is enough.
If you come back sooner, or later, than planned, that’s fine: your storage runs until you give notice.
Being deployed at short notice is a lot to organise. Call us on 0800 2545585 and we’ll talk through your plans and help you get everything set up before you go.
