Just email us at hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk with the date you’d like to leave, giving at least the notice shown on the front page of your storage agreement, which is normally 14 days. You pay up to your end date, and once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund any days you’ve paid for but won’t use.
What to put in your email
A few details help us find your account straight away and confirm your date:
- your name, as it appears on your agreement;
- your site and unit number;
- the date you’d like your storage to end;
- a phone number, in case we need to check anything.
Notice needs to be in writing, so email is the easiest way. You’re very welcome to call us on 0800 2545585 first if you’d like to talk your date through, then follow up with your email. Keep a copy of what you send.
Choosing your end date
Count your notice from the day after you email, which is when it’s treated as received. So if your notice period is 14 days and you email on a Monday, your end date can be the Tuesday two weeks later, or any day after that. If your moving date might slip, pick a date you’re confident of. If plans change after you’ve given notice, just tell us before your end date and we’ll talk it through.
If you need to leave sooner than your notice period allows, still email us straight away. The notice days can still be charged, so the sooner we hear from you, the fewer there are. You can clear the unit at your own pace during your notice period.
Moving out
By your end date, please:
- take everything out of the unit, including any rubbish and packing materials;
- leave it clean, tidy and in the same condition as when you moved in;
- check your belongings as you go, and let us know if anything’s wrong;
- email us to say you’ve cleared it.
Free trolleys are there to help with the heavy lifting. If you’d like a hand with the move itself, we can put you in touch with local removals or man-and-van firms.
Once we’ve checked the unit, we refund any unused days. If you joined us some time ago and paid a deposit at the start, that’s refunded too, less anything owed.
A few special cases
If two people are named on the agreement, notice from either of you is enough. If you’re giving notice for a relative who has died or can no longer manage their affairs, please call us first, and we’ll help you with what’s needed.
And if you only need a different size, you may not need to leave at all: we can move you to a bigger or smaller unit when one’s free.
Any questions about your notice or end date, call us on 0800 2545585 or email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk.
