Late payment fee

A late payment fee is a charge added when a payment isn’t made by its due date, on top of the amount that was owed. An agreement with regular payments, such as storage, often includes one.

At Wigwam

If a payment doesn’t go through, perhaps because a card has expired or been replaced, we’ll get in touch promptly and help you put it right, for example with a secure link so you can pay by card. Once you’ve paid by link, you can save your card so future payments are taken automatically.

A late charge may apply, so it’s worth sorting quickly. If you’re on an introductory offer, a missed payment can also mean the discount you’ve had becomes payable.

How to avoid one

We email your invoice 5 to 7 days before every payment, so you’ll usually have a few days’ warning to check your card or Direct Debit is up to date. If you’re going away, or your bank has sent you a new card, a quick update before the due date keeps everything running smoothly.

If you can see a difficult month coming, call us before the payment is due. Tell us what you can pay and when, and we’ll look at your options together, such as moving to a smaller unit that costs less every four weeks. Our prices page explains what storage costs. Our guide to missed payments also lists free, impartial debt advice services.

For anything about a payment, call us on 0800 2545585 or email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk.
