Notice period

A notice period is how far ahead you must tell the other side that you want to end an ongoing agreement, such as storage that carries on until you leave. Charges usually run until the notice period ends, even if you leave sooner.

At Wigwam

Our notice period is normally 14 days, and it’s shown on the front page of your storage agreement. To give notice, just email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk with your name, your site and unit number, and the date you’d like your storage to end. Notice needs to be in writing, so email is the easiest way, and you’re welcome to call us on 0800 2545585 first to talk your date through.

You pay up to your end date. Once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund any days you’ve paid for but won’t use. If you are wondering whether we can give notice too, whether Wigwam can end your storage agreement has its own answer.

Choosing your end date

Count your notice from the day after you email, which is when it’s treated as received. If you email on a Monday with 14 days’ notice, your end date can be the Tuesday two weeks later, or any day after that.

If you need to leave sooner, you can clear the unit whenever you’re ready, though storage is still charged to the end of the notice period. So the sooner you email us, the sooner that date arrives. If your move slips after you’ve given notice, tell us before your end date and we’ll agree a new date with you in writing.

Planning short-term storage? Give notice on the day you sign up, and it runs alongside our two-week minimum stay rather than after it.

Notice period or cooling-off period?

A notice period is how you end your storage at any time. A cooling-off period is a 14-day window to change your mind about a booking made online or by phone without visiting; cancel within it and you only pay for the storage you’ve had.
