Move-out inspection

A move-out inspection is the check, at the end of an agreement, that a rented space has been left empty, clean and undamaged. It’s what lets the space go to the next person, and it usually comes before any money owed back to you is returned.

At Wigwam

Leaving is simple. By close of business on your end date, take everything out, give the floor a sweep and leave the unit clean and tidy, just as you found it, ready for the next customer. Then email us at hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk to say you’ve gone. We’ll check the unit, and then refund any unused days on your agreement.

We’re not currently taking deposits, so there’s nothing held back for a final clean. If you joined us some time ago and paid a deposit then, it’s refunded once your storage ends, less anything owed.

A quick last-visit checklist

  • Everything out, including the easily forgotten odds and ends and any flattened boxes.
  • A quick sweep, with spills wiped up.
  • Hooks, tape and stickers taken down.
  • Padlock off, if your unit has one, as at our Chipping Norton site.

Bring a broom and a couple of bin bags for the last trip: our sites don’t have bins, so rubbish goes home with you or to your local tip. A quick photo of the empty unit before you close the door is a nice record to keep.

If a unit is left needing extra cleaning, repair or clearing, we may charge for putting it right, so a last look round saves any surprises. If you notice a dent or a scrape, tell us when you leave: it’s always easier to sort out together. And check your own belongings as they come out, letting us know straight away if anything isn’t right.
