We can, under the same simple rule that lets you leave whenever you like: either of us can end the agreement by giving written notice, normally 14 days, as shown on the front page of your agreement. If something needs putting right, such as an item that isn’t allowed in storage, we’ll ask you first and give you 14 days to sort it.
Why the rule works both ways
Our storage is flexible on purpose. There’s no long contract to break: you can move out whenever you’re ready by giving us notice. The same notice period applies to us, so you’d have the same time to plan that we ask of you.
If we ever give you notice
You’d hear from us in writing, by post or email, at the contact details you’ve given us. That’s why it’s worth telling us whenever you move or change your email, and one reason we ask for an alternate contact when you book.
You’d then have until the end date to clear your unit and leave it clean and tidy. You only pay up to that date, and we refund any unused days once the unit is empty. If the timing is hard for you, perhaps because you’re between homes or have business stock to move, call us as soon as the notice arrives and we’ll talk it through.
When it can happen sooner
There are a few situations where we can end an agreement straight away. The main ones are illegal or environmentally harmful activity, because we have everyone else’s belongings and safety to think about, and a problem we’ve asked you to fix that still hasn’t been put right 14 days later. For anything that can be fixed, you’ll always get that request and those 14 days first.
If we need to move you to a different unit
Occasionally we may need to move a customer to another unit, for example if part of a building has to be closed. The new unit will be no smaller, and you keep paying the same price as before. We normally give 14 days’ notice, unless an incident means a section has to close sooner, and during those 14 days you can choose to end your agreement instead. If you move, we’ll cover reasonable removal costs that we’ve agreed with you in writing beforehand.
