Payment in advance

Payment in advance means paying for a period of service before it starts, rather than being billed afterwards for time you’ve already used. Each payment buys the next block of time, much like rent on a home.

At Wigwam

You pay for your first four weeks of storage when you book, plus contents cover if you take ours. Your online quote shows the exact amount before you pay, and our prices page explains what storage costs. After that, you pay every four weeks, automatically once you’ve set up a card payment or Direct Debit, and we email your invoice 5 to 7 days before each one, so you can always see what’s coming.

Your four weeks run from the date your storage starts, not the day you book. If you reserve a unit ahead of a move, the £10 reservation fee comes off that first payment.

Paying ahead keeps things simple: each payment covers the four weeks in front of it, payments fall on a regular date, and no bill arrives after you’ve used the space. If a card expires or a payment doesn’t go through, we’ll contact you with instructions to update it.

Payment in advance or a deposit?

They’re different money. A payment in advance buys storage time. A deposit buys no time at all: it’s security, returned at the end less anything owed. We’re not currently taking deposits, so what you pay when you book is all storage time (and cover, if you take ours).

When you leave

Because you’ve paid ahead, some of your last payment may cover days after you’ve gone. Give us notice, normally 14 days, and once your unit is empty and checked, we refund any days you’ve paid for after your notice ends. You only ever pay up to the end of your notice.
