A break-in procedure is the agreed set of steps a storage company and its customer follow after a forced entry: making the site safe, reporting it to the police, recording what was taken or damaged, and starting an insurance claim. Following the steps in order helps the police and makes any claim simpler.
At Wigwam
We’re sorry if this ever happens to you, and we’ll help you through it. Every unit has its own alarm, and if yours goes off while you’re not on site, our security team investigates. If you find your unit has been broken into:
- Don’t move anything you don’t need to, and take photos.
- Call the police, and note the crime reference number.
- Call us on 0800 2545585.
- Make a list of what’s missing or damaged, with any receipts or photos you have.
- If you have our contents protection, email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk asking us to make a claim, and we’ll pass it to our insurer. If you use your own policy, claim with your insurer.
Our contents protection covers theft involving forcible entry or exit, settled new for old, with a £50 excess.
Being ready, just in case
Keep a simple list of what’s in your unit, with a few photos, and declare the full replacement value for your cover. If it’s ever needed, that makes the claim far easier.
