An access PIN is a personal number code you type into a keypad at a storage site to open its gate or doors. At some sites the same code also sets and unsets the alarm on your unit. It’s something you know rather than something you carry, so it works without a phone, and it stays secure for as long as only you know it.
At Wigwam
Our Chipping Norton site works this way. When you book, you choose your own PIN, which lets you through the doors and sets and unsets your unit’s own alarm as you arrive and leave. If the alarm goes off when you’re not on site, our security team investigates. You secure the unit itself with a padlock: bring your own, or buy a keyed or combination one from our reception, open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm.
Elsewhere, smart entry on your phone opens the doors and your unit, so there’s no code to remember. When you set it up, the text from Noke includes a temporary password that lasts 24 hours; that’s only for logging in the first time, and you then create your own.
Keeping your PIN safe
Your PIN is what keeps everyone else out, so keep it to yourself. If a family member or friend needs to visit without you, call us and we’ll talk you through sharing access with them; at Chipping Norton you share access by giving them your key and access code. If you think someone has seen your PIN, call us on 0800 2545585 and we’ll help.
Access is normally 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, while our office keeps shorter hours, so for an early, late or Sunday visit make sure you have your PIN with you before you set off.
