Yes, and it’s simple to do. By close of business on your end date, take everything out, give the floor a sweep and leave the unit clean and tidy, just as you found it when you moved in, ready for the next customer.
A simple last-visit checklist
- Everything out. That includes the odds and ends that are easy to leave behind: the broken chair, a lamp nobody wants, the pile of flattened boxes.
- A quick sweep. Loose packing, tape, dust sheets and pallets all go with you.
- Spills wiped up. If there’s an oil mark or a paint splash, clean it up, or mention it when you get in touch.
- Walls and door as you found them. Take down any hooks, tape or stickers.
- Padlock off, if your unit has one, as it does at our Chipping Norton site.
Bring a broom, a dustpan and a couple of bin bags for the last trip. Our sites don’t have bins, so any rubbish goes home with you, or to your local tip.
Let us know when you’re done
Once the unit is empty, email us at hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk to say you’ve moved out. We’ll check the unit, and then refund any unused days on your agreement. If you’d like a record for yourself, a quick photo of the empty unit before you close the door is a nice way to finish.
No deposit to worry about
New customers don’t pay a deposit, so there’s nothing held back for a final clean. If you joined us some time ago and paid one when you started, it’s refunded once your storage ends, less anything owed.
If something needs sorting
Each unit goes on to a new customer, so we ask everyone to leave theirs ready for whoever comes after. If a unit is left needing extra cleaning, repair or clearing, we may charge for the cost of putting it right. Anything left after your end date would be treated as abandoned: we’d write to you first, and storage fees until it’s cleared, plus the cost of clearing it, would be added to your account. If you notice a dent or a scrape, whether it happened on your watch or a removals crew’s, tell us when you leave. It’s always easier to sort out together, and it saves any surprises later.
Clearing a relative’s unit, or closing a business unit?
If you’re sorting a loved one’s belongings, give yourself time: deciding what to keep often takes longer than the moving. Call us first and we’ll help you plan. For a business unit, freestanding racking, offcuts and trade waste all need to go, so arrange a waste carrier for anything that won’t fit in the van.
If you haven’t given notice yet, email us your end date. Notice is normally 14 days, and you only pay up to your end date. Any questions about your last visit, call us on 0800 2545585.
