A trolley, at a storage site, is a wheeled cart you load with boxes, bags and furniture to move them from your car or van to your unit, so you carry less and make fewer trips. It’s different from a sack truck, a two-wheeled upright barrow you tip back to move one tall, heavy item, and from a pallet truck, which lifts and moves a loaded pallet.

At Wigwam

Trolleys are free to use at every Wigwam site. You can park for free in the customer car park while you unload, so you can load the trolley straight from your boot and wheel it to your unit.

A few habits make each run quicker and safer:

  • load the heaviest boxes first and keep them low, with lighter ones on top;
  • keep stacks to a height you can see over, and keep a hand on anything tall;
  • take each load straight into your unit so the corridors stay clear for everyone, and pop the trolley back when you’ve finished.

Heavy pieces

A trolley carries the weight along the corridor, but someone still has to lift each piece on and off. For a sofa, a wardrobe or a fridge freezer, bring a friend to help, and bring your own sack truck if you have one. If you’d like a sack truck or pallet truck on the day, ask us whether your site has one before you travel. If you’d rather not do the lifting yourself, we can recommend local removals and man-and-van firms.

If your things are heavy or your unit would be upstairs, tell us when you book on 0800 2545585 and we’ll look for a ground-floor unit if that’s easier.
