A square metre (m²) is the metric unit of area: a square one metre long on each side. One square metre is about 10.76 square feet, so to turn square metres into square feet, multiply by 10.76; to go the other way, divide by 10.76. Floor plans, estate agents’ room sizes and many European listings use square metres.
At Wigwam
Storage in the UK is usually sold in square feet, and we list our units by floor area in square feet and square metres. As a rough guide:
| Unit size | About |
|---|---|
| 25 sq ft | 2.3 m² |
| 50 sq ft | 4.6 m² |
| 75 sq ft | 7.0 m² |
| 100 sq ft | 9.3 m² |
| 150 sq ft | 13.9 m² |
Sizes are approximate, so if a long or tall item has to fit, call us with its measurements and we’ll check it against the unit before you book.
Floor area isn’t everything
Square metres and square feet measure the floor. You can stack upwards too, so a well-packed unit holds more than its floor area suggests. Our room-by-room size guide is a good place to start. Tell us what you’re storing, and our team will help you choose the right size.
