Student storage

Student storage is short-term storage for a student’s belongings over the summer, between terms, or during a placement or year abroad. It usually means a small unit or locker near the university or home, so boxes and bits of furniture don’t have to make the long trip back and forth. If you are leaving for a placement or a year abroad, see whether you need storage while you are away.

At Wigwam

Student storage is ordinary self storage with us, on the same simple terms as everyone else. The minimum stay is just two weeks, so a Christmas or Easter break works as well as a whole summer, and you pay only for the weeks you use. We’ve written more on student storage over the summer.

A small unit or a locker is often all a student needs. On our October 2026 price lists, the middle price for a 25 sq ft unit was £21.25 a week, before any offer and before contents cover. Our sites often run an introductory offer on your first weeks, and student offers are set site by site, so your quote shows exactly what applies. Get a price online for the site nearest you.

We’re not currently taking deposits. You pay your first four weeks in advance, plus contents cover if you take ours, and then every four weeks after that.

Planning around term dates

You can reserve a unit before term ends for £10, which comes off your first payment. If you already know when you’ll be back, you can give your notice (normally 14 days) on the day you sign up, so your storage ends when you need it to. Once the unit is empty and checked, we refund any days you’ve paid for but not used.

Access is normally 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, and trolleys are free to use, which makes moving in easier. If a parent is booking, they can share access with you through smart entry, so you can drop off and collect your things yourself.
