A walk-in unit is a storage room big enough to step inside, rather than a locker or cupboard you reach into from outside. You can carry furniture straight in, stack boxes from the floor upwards and leave a walkway to reach things at the back. Most self storage units are walk-in units.
At Wigwam
Our indoor units are purpose-built rooms inside our buildings, from small spaces for a room’s worth of things up to units big enough for a whole house or business stock. Each has its own lock and its own alarm, and only you, and the people you choose, can open it. At sites including Bath, Chipping Norton and Leatherhead, we also have lockers for smaller amounts.
On our October 2026 price lists, the middle price every four weeks was £85 for a 25 sq ft unit, £133 for 50 sq ft and £228 for 100 sq ft. Prices vary by site and change often.
Walk-in unit or locker?
Choose a walk-in unit for furniture, a mattress, anything long or tall, or more than a handful of boxes. A locker suits a few boxes, files or a student’s things. If you’re between the two, tell us what you’re storing and we’ll suggest a size, or get a price online.
