A goods lift is a lift designed to carry heavy loads, such as furniture, boxes on a trolley or pallets, between floors, rather than people alone. It’s usually larger and sturdier than a passenger lift, with a wide door and a high weight limit.
At Wigwam
Where a site has more than one floor, a lift makes an upper-floor unit easy to use. Our Alton, Bath, Burton-on-Trent, Chipping Norton, Dorking, Lincoln, March and Tewkesbury sites have a lift to their upper floors, and our Bromsgrove site has a goods lift. At Leatherhead and Cheltenham, the first floor is reached by stairs, so the ground floor is the one to choose there for anything heavy.
Upper-floor units often cost less than the same size on the ground floor, which makes them a good choice for boxes and lighter things.
Planning around a lift
- If you’re storing a wardrobe, a sofa or anything long, ask us whether it will fit the lift before you book an upper-floor unit.
- Load the trolley so it’s stable, and take one load at a time.
- For very heavy items, or if you can’t manage stairs, ask for a ground-floor unit and we’ll find one in the size you need.
