An upper-floor unit is a storage unit above ground level, on a first or second floor or on a mezzanine, reached by stairs or a lift. A mezzanine is an intermediate floor built inside a tall ground-floor space, rather than a full storey of the building.
At Wigwam
Where a site has more than one floor, a unit upstairs often costs less than the same size on the ground floor, which makes it a good choice for boxes and lighter things you’re happy to take up in a lift or carry.
Alton, Bath, Bromsgrove, Burton-on-Trent, Chipping Norton, Dorking, Lincoln, March and Tewkesbury have a lift to their upper floors. At Leatherhead and Cheltenham, the first floor is reached by stairs, so units there suit light boxes, and we’d suggest the ground floor for anything heavy. For Marlow, Reading and Shipston-on-Stour, call us and we’ll tell you how the upper floor is reached. Some units at Lincoln have a restricted height, so if you’re storing anything tall, mention it when you book.
Free trolleys at every site help with the trip from the car park to your door, and your quote shows the sizes and prices on each floor at your site.
Upstairs or ground floor?
Think about the heaviest thing you’re storing and who will be carrying it. If you’re bringing a wardrobe, a bike or anything long, ask us whether it will fit the lift before you book upstairs. If you use a wheelchair, or can’t manage stairs, ask for a ground-floor unit and we’ll find one in the size you need. And if you start upstairs and it becomes too much, call us about moving to a ground-floor unit when one is free.
Call us on 0800 2545585 before you book and we’ll help you pick the right floor.
