A cylinder lock is a key-operated lock whose working parts sit inside a cylinder, a barrel-shaped part that can be removed and replaced without changing the whole lock. Turning the right key lines up the pins inside the cylinder so it can rotate. Many front doors, and some storage unit doors, use one. If you have just moved into a new home, our guide to changing the locks explains why it is worth doing.
At Wigwam
How your unit locks depends on the site:
- With smart entry, your phone opens the external doors and, where your unit has a smart lock, your unit too. When you lock up, the unit’s own alarm sets.
- At Chipping Norton, you enter the building with your own PIN and secure your unit with a padlock: bring your own, or buy one at reception.
- For drive-up units and containers, ask us how your unit locks when you book, so you know whether to bring a padlock on the day.
Whichever way your unit locks, it has its own alarm, and only you, and the people you choose, can open it.
