Continuous payment authority

A continuous payment authority (CPA) is a recurring card payment: you give a business your debit or credit card details and permission to take payments as they fall due, without asking you each time. The Financial Conduct Authority describes recurring card payments as letting businesses “charge your payment card on a recurring basis without getting your permission each time”, and says they’re sometimes called continuous payment authorities.

At Wigwam

You pay your first four weeks’ storage by card when you book, and our prices page explains what storage costs. You can then save your card, so each four-weekly payment is taken automatically, or set up a Direct Debit instead. Either way, we email your invoice 5 to 7 days before each payment. If your card expires or a payment doesn’t go through, we’ll contact you with instructions to update it.

Your right to cancel

The FCA says you can ask your card issuer to cancel recurring card payments, and once you have, your card issuer must stop them, even if you haven’t contacted the business. If you’re ending your storage, give us notice too, normally 14 days, so your account closes cleanly and any unused days are refunded.
