Closed-shackle padlock

A closed-shackle padlock is a padlock whose body rises up around the shackle, the curved bar that goes through the hasp, so very little of it is exposed. With nowhere to get a grip, it’s much harder to cut with bolt cutters or prise open than an open-shackle padlock, which is why they’re often used on shutters, containers and gates.

At Wigwam

Our online Box Shop sells a heavy-duty container shutter padlock with an enclosed shackle, made for container doors, delivered to your door. If you’re booking a drive-up unit or an outdoor container, ask us how it locks when you book, so you know what to bring on the day.

Where your unit opens with smart entry, you don’t need a padlock at all. At Chipping Norton, you secure your unit with your own padlock, or one bought at reception.

Before you buy

Check the padlock fits the fixing point on your door: a closed-shackle lock needs room for its body to sit around the hasp. Keep a spare key at home, and if you lose yours, call us on 0800 2545585.
