Both are well protected, in slightly different ways. Our container sites are watched around the clock by a professional CCTV monitoring company and have a secure perimeter, and your container is a lockable steel unit; an indoor unit sits inside a building with controlled entry and its own individual alarm.
What protects a container
Our storage containers are at Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster. At every one of those sites:
- CCTV is monitored around the clock by a professional monitoring company;
- the site has a secure perimeter;
- your container is solid steel and lockable, and only you, and anyone you choose to share access with, can get in.
At Chipping Norton and Shipston-on-Stour, the containers sit in an access-controlled compound. For the lock itself, our Box Shop sells an 82mm heavy-duty container shutter padlock, a solid steel lock with an enclosed shackle that’s made to resist cutting, prying and drilling.
A container’s biggest practical strength is that you can drive right up to the doors, so loading tools, equipment or a full house move is quick, and you’re not carrying things through a building.
What protects an indoor unit
An indoor unit sits inside one of our buildings, behind external doors with access control. Each unit has its own alarm, which sets and unsets as you come and go, through smart entry on your phone or, at Chipping Norton, your own PIN. If your alarm goes off while you’re not on site, our security team investigates. The same monitored CCTV and secure perimeter protect the whole site.
Which should you choose?
Choose a container if you’re storing bulky items, need to load straight from a van or trailer, or are storing tools and equipment you’ll be in and out of often. Choose an indoor unit if you’re storing smaller things, want a unit sized closely to what you have, or simply like the idea of a building around your belongings.
Whichever you pick, contents cover is part of storing with us, either through our contents protection or your own policy. Our cover includes theft involving forced entry.
If you’re storing for a business and your insurer asks how your unit is protected, call us and we’ll give you the details for the container or unit at your site.
