You don’t have to be there yourself. The easiest way is to give a friend, relative or colleague their own access to your unit, so they can meet the van, let the crew in and lock up when the last box is in.
Setting up someone to meet the van
You’re in control of who can get into your unit. With smart entry, you can share access from your phone with anyone you choose, for a set length of time or for as long as you like. They set up smart entry on their own phone, and you share access using their phone number. At Chipping Norton, where units use padlocks, you give them the keys and access codes instead.
We suggest it’s someone you know and trust, because they’ll be there on your behalf: they can check everything arrives safely, keep the corridors clear and make sure your unit is locked at the end. If there’s nobody who can go, call us before you book the crew and we’ll talk it through with you.
Before moving day, make sure the person meeting the van has:
- smart entry set up and tested on their own phone (or the keys and codes at Chipping Norton);
- access that lasts the whole day, in case the van runs late;
- the site address, your unit number and the access hours, which are 6am to 10pm, seven days a week (times can vary by site, so check your site’s page);
- a copy of the removals firm’s inventory, so they can tick things off as they go in.
The crew can park for free in the customer car park while they unload, and there are free trolleys to use on site.
Couriers and business deliveries
Our team doesn’t sign for or take in deliveries on customers’ behalf, so your things only ever pass to you or someone you’ve chosen. Book a timed delivery within access hours and have someone from your side meet the driver. Please don’t use your unit as a postal address; send post to your home or business instead.
For a pallet delivery, book a haulier with a tail-lift. Some of our sites have pallet trucks, so ask us about yours.
