Short-term storage is renting storage space for a few weeks or a few months, usually to get through a move, a renovation, a sale or a gap between homes. What makes storage work for a short stay is a low minimum term and a short notice period, so you pay only for the weeks you use. We’ve written more on decluttering before a house move.
At Wigwam
Our minimum stay is just two weeks, and there’s no separate short-term contract: the same simple agreement runs for two weeks or two years, and you leave when you’re ready. Our short-term storage page explains how it works.
- New customers don’t pay a deposit. You pay your first four weeks in advance, plus contents cover if you take ours.
- Notice is normally 14 days, as shown on the front page of your agreement. Just email us your end date.
- Once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund any days you’ve paid for but don’t use.
If you already know your end date, give us notice on the day you sign up. Your notice then runs alongside the two-week minimum rather than on top of it.
A worked example
Say you need a 50 sq ft unit for three weeks. On our October 2026 price lists, the middle price for 50 sq ft was £133 every four weeks, about £33 a week. You pay the first four weeks when you book and email your end date in your first week. Once you’ve left and the unit is checked, we refund the unused week, so three weeks at that price comes to £99.75, plus contents cover. Prices and offers vary by site and change often, so your quote shows the real figure, including any offer on your first weeks.
If you booked online or by phone without visiting the site, you also have 14 days from the day we confirm your booking to change your mind, and you only pay for the storage you’ve had.
If plans slip, that’s fine: tell us before your end date and we’ll agree a new one with you in writing. Get a price online, or call us on 0800 2545585.
