Gate access is being let through a storage site’s outer gate or entrance doors, usually by an electronic system that checks who you are and whether you’re within the opening hours. It gets you onto the site and into the building. Your own unit is a separate step, with its own lock.
At Wigwam
Our sites have access control systems on the external doors, so getting into the building takes a customer’s own access, or access they’ve shared with someone they trust. With smart entry, your phone opens the entrance and then your unit, so there’s no key or card to carry. If a smartphone doesn’t suit you, we can supply a fob instead. At Chipping Norton, you use the PIN you choose when you book.
Access is normally 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, weekends and bank holidays included (Cheltenham’s hours are slightly different). If you’re still inside after hours, push-to-exit buttons near the main exits let you out.
If the entrance won’t open
A few quick checks usually sort it:
- Make sure Bluetooth and Location Services are switched on, because smart entry needs both to reach the locks.
- Check the time is within access hours.
- If it still won’t open, or your phone has died, call us on 0800 2545585 with your name and unit details ready. We may ask a few security questions first, to make sure it’s really you.
Saving our number in your phone before your first visit makes any problem a quick call rather than a wasted trip.
Gate access and unit access
The two work together. The entrance keeps the building secure for everyone, and your unit has its own lock and its own alarm, which sets and unsets as you come and go. So lock your unit whenever you step away, even for a quick trip back to the car.
