An automated storage facility is a self storage site built so the whole customer journey runs electronically: you book online, let yourself in and open your own unit with a phone, fob or code, and the site’s alarms, cameras and entry records keep watch. Nobody has to be there to let you in. The term describes how the site runs, not how many people work there or when it’s open.
At Wigwam
Our sites work this way. Once you’ve booked, smart entry on your phone lets you through the external doors and, where your unit has a smart lock, opens your unit too. Each unit has its own alarm, which sets and unsets as you come and go. If an alarm goes off when you’re not on site, our security team investigates. CCTV is monitored around the clock by a professional monitoring company, behind a secure perimeter. If a smartphone doesn’t suit you, we can supply a fob instead, and at Chipping Norton you use your own PIN and padlock.
When our Bromsgrove site opened in 2022, it was built as a fully automated facility, with Bluetooth access control, motion-tracking sensors, alarmed units and electronic locks, so there’s no need to buy a padlock there.
Automated, with people behind it
Automated doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Our team is on hand Monday to Saturday, by phone and email, to help with booking, smart entry or anything else. If it’s your first visit, we’d suggest moving in on a weekday, when we’re easy to reach.
It doesn’t mean open all night, either. Access is normally 6am to 10pm, seven days a week (Cheltenham’s hours are slightly different). If you’re still inside after hours, push-to-exit buttons near the main exits let you out, and if you’ll regularly need earlier or later access, ask us before you book.
