Home staging is preparing a home for sale or to let so that buyers or tenants can picture themselves living there: clearing clutter and personal items, rearranging or bringing in furniture, and dressing rooms for the listing photos and viewings.

Decluttering is the first half: taking things out. Staging goes further, deciding what stays, where it sits and what gets added. Either way, the things that come out need somewhere to go while the home is on the market. Our page on storage for decluttering before a sale shows how a unit fits that stage.

At Wigwam

A storage unit holds what comes out of the house until the sale is done. There’s more on decluttering to sell in Marlow in our guide.

  • No long tie-in. Our minimum stay is two weeks. After that your storage carries on until you give notice, normally 14 days, and we refund any unused days. If the sale falls through and you relist, you simply keep the unit.
  • Easy to get to. Access is 6am to 10pm, seven days a week (Cheltenham’s hours are different), so you can clear in stages and fetch things back between viewings.
  • Safe while you sell. Units are individually alarmed, and the CCTV is watched by a professional monitoring company.
  • What it costs. In October 2026 the middle price every four weeks was £85 for 25 sq ft and £133 for 50 sq ft. Prices vary by site, so get a price online. New customers don’t pay a deposit.

On moving day, someone from your side needs to be there to let the van in, whether that’s you or a friend you’ve given access to.

If you stage homes for a living

Our guide for home stagers suggests a 25 sq ft unit for lighter decor such as lamps, cushions, mirrors and prints, and 50 to 75 sq ft for a mid-size staging inventory. You can add a second unit as the business grows, subject to availability at your site. If you hold clients’ things under your own account, include them in the value you declare for contents cover.
