A 40ft container is a steel shipping container twice the length of the standard 20ft size. In self storage, it gives a large, single drive-up space for bulky stock, equipment or the contents of a big house move, with doors at one end so you can load straight from a van or lorry.
At Wigwam
We have 320 sq ft storage containers at our Warminster site, listed as 40ft x 8ft, ideal for excess warehouse stock and large business equipment. They’re drive-up, so you can park beside the doors, and you can get to them from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week.
We have a limited number of containers, so ask us what’s free. Ask us how your container locks when you book, so you know whether to bring a padlock.
Packing a long container
- Put the things you’ll need least at the far end, and keep a clear walkway so you can reach the back.
- Lift everything off the floor on pallets or boards, and use breathable covers rather than sealed plastic, because steel follows the weather.
- Pack everything clean and completely dry before it goes in.
If a 40ft container is more than you need, our 160 sq ft (20ft) containers are at Chipping Norton and Shipston-on-Stour. Call us on 0800 2545585 and we’ll help you choose.
