If you realise something has been left behind, call us on 0800 2545585 as soon as you can and we’ll talk you through what to do. Things left in your unit don’t disappear straight away: before anything could be sold or disposed of, we write to you asking you to collect it.
Forgotten something after moving out?
It happens, especially at the end of a long moving day. Ring us, tell us what’s there, and we’ll explain how to get it back. It helps to bring photo ID when you come.
How it works if things stay in a unit
When your storage ends, the unit needs to be empty by close of business on your end date, so it’s ready for the next customer. Anything still inside after that can be treated as left behind for good, but that starts a process, not an instant clear-out.
First, we write to you by post and email asking you to collect your things. If they still aren’t collected after that letter, they can be sold or disposed of, and storage fees can be charged for the time they stay, along with any costs of clearing them. That’s why the letter is the moment to pick up the phone, and why we’d always rather hear from you early.
Our letters go to the postal and email addresses you last gave us, so if you’re moving house, please let us know your new details in writing.
Keep everything inside your unit
Please don’t leave anything in a corridor or outside your unit, even for a short while. Shared spaces have to stay clear and safe for everyone, so anything left there can be cleared straight away. There are no bins on site, so take any rubbish with you too. If a unit needs clearing or cleaning after someone leaves, there can be a charge for it.
Running out of time before your end date?
If you can see you won’t be clear in time, call us before the date arrives and we’ll talk through your options. Our page on keeping your unit longer explains more.
Collecting for someone else
Only the customer, and the people they’ve given access to, can get into a unit. If you’re collecting for a relative, or the person who rented the unit has died, call us first and we’ll explain what we need. Our page on what happens when the renter dies may help.
Whatever’s been left behind, the sooner we hear from you, the easier it is to put right. Call us on 0800 2545585 or email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk.
