We know it isn’t always possible to leave the dog at home, especially on a busy moving day. If yours needs to come along when you visit your unit, give us a quick call on 0800 2545585 before you set off and we’ll let you know what works best at your site.
Making the visit easy for you both
- Keep them close. We’d suggest a lead while you’re on site, as other customers may be wheeling trolleys or carrying furniture, and not everyone is at ease around dogs.
- Share the jobs. If someone is helping you, one of you can look after the dog while the other loads.
- Bring water and a bowl, especially on a long moving day.
- Take any mess home. Our sites don’t have rubbish bins, so bring a few bags and take everything away with you.
- Think about drive-up. At Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster, drive-up units let you load straight from your car or van, so your dog can stay by the vehicle with whoever is minding them.
Hot days
Please don’t leave your dog waiting in the car on a warm day, even in the shade or with the windows open. The RSPCA warns that when it’s 22°C outside, a car can reach 47°C within an hour. Access starts at 6am, seven days a week (times can vary by site, so check your site’s page), so a cool early visit is often the easiest plan. And if it’s simply too hot, your dog may be happier at home.
Assistance dogs
If you use an assistance dog, let us know when you book so we can help your visits go smoothly, and tell us if anything would make getting to your unit easier. Our guide to step-free access covers getting around our sites.
Storing your dog’s things
Crates, beds, bowls, leads and grooming kit can go in your unit like any other household goods. Dog food is best kept at home, though. Food attracts pests, so it’s on our list of items not to store, and every site has professional pest control to protect everyone’s belongings.
