Third-party logistics (3PL)

Third-party logistics, or 3PL, is when a business hands its storage, order picking, packing and delivery to a specialist company. The 3PL receives the stock into its warehouse, sends out each order as it comes in, and usually charges for storage space, for each order handled and for delivery.

At Wigwam

We offer self storage rather than logistics: you rent your own business storage unit and run your stock yourself. That suits a business that wants control and a predictable cost, and is happy to pack its own orders.

  • One four-weekly price for the space, however full you fill it, with no per-order charges.
  • Pick and pack at your unit from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, and share access with staff.
  • Flexible terms. A two-week minimum, then storage carries on until you give notice, normally 14 days.
  • No business rates on an indoor unit.

Which suits you?

A 3PL suits high order volumes, or a business that wants someone else to handle dispatch and returns. A unit suits stock that sells steadily, bulky items, seasonal stock, or a business selling across several channels. If you sell on Amazon, comparing a unit with FBA storage fees shows where each is cheaper. Some businesses use both: a unit as the stockroom, sending batches to a fulfilment centre as needed.
