Roller shutter door

A roller shutter door is a door made of horizontal metal slats that roll up into a drum above the opening, rather than swinging open. Because it doesn’t need space to swing, it’s common on garages, shop fronts, loading bays and drive-up storage units, and the full width of the opening is clear when it’s up.

At Wigwam

Unit doors vary between our sites and unit types. Rather than guess, ask us how your unit opens and locks when you book, especially for a drive-up unit or an outdoor container, so you know whether to bring a padlock on the day. Our online Box Shop sells a heavy-duty container shutter padlock, made for container doors.

If you’re measuring a large item, the door opening is the gap it has to pass through. Send us the measurements of your biggest pieces and we’ll check them against the unit and its door before you book.

Using one

Lift a shutter smoothly and all the way up before you carry anything through, and don’t lean loads against it. Close and lock it every time you step away.
