Gazumping is when a seller accepts a buyer’s offer on a home, then accepts a higher offer from someone else before contracts are exchanged. In England, an accepted offer isn’t legally binding until exchange, which is why it can happen, and the first buyer can lose money already spent on surveys and legal fees.
At Wigwam
If a purchase falls through, the hardest part can be the timing: you may already have sold, or given notice on a rental, and need somewhere for your belongings while you find another home. Storage takes that pressure off.
- Book quickly. If the size you need is free, you can often move in the same day.
- No end date needed. The minimum stay is just two weeks, then storage carries on until you give notice, normally 14 days.
- Only pay for what you use. We refund any unused days once the unit is empty and checked.
If you’ve already booked storage for a move that’s fallen through, call us on 0800 2545585 and we’ll help you work out the best way forward.
Reducing the risk
Buyers often ask the seller to take the home off the market once an offer is accepted, and keep things moving quickly to exchange. Your conveyancer can advise on what’s possible.
