A disc padlock is a round, flat padlock whose body wraps around most of its curved shackle, leaving only a small part exposed. Because there’s so little shackle to get bolt cutters onto, disc padlocks are popular for storage units, sheds and garages.
At Wigwam
Whether you need a padlock depends on the site. Where your unit opens with smart entry, you don’t need one: your phone opens your unit and locks it again, and your unit’s own alarm sets and unsets with it.
At Chipping Norton, you secure your unit with a padlock: bring your own, or buy a keyed or combination one at reception. For drive-up units and containers, ask us how your unit locks when you book. Our online Box Shop sells padlocks too, including a heavy-duty container shutter padlock with an enclosed shackle, made for container doors.
Choosing a padlock
Whatever style you pick, check it fits the fixing point on your unit door before you buy, and keep a spare key somewhere safe at home. If you’re not sure what will fit, ask us when you book.
