What are my cancellation rights if I book storage online?

If you booked online or by phone without coming into the site, you have 14 days from the day we confirm your booking to change your mind. You only pay for the storage you’ve actually had, and if you cancel before your storage start date, there’s no storage to pay for at all.

How it works

Plans change, especially around a house move, so the 14 days are there to give you breathing space. The clock starts when we confirm we’ve accepted your booking. Your storage start date is separate: it’s the date you chose when you booked, and it can fall inside or after those 14 days.

You pay your first four weeks of storage when you book. If you cancel within the 14 days, we keep only the part that covers the days you’ve had, and the rest comes back to you once your things are out of the unit. For example, if your first four weeks cost £140 and you cancel after one week, you’d pay around £35 and get around £105 back. If you’ve already moved some things in, clearing the unit promptly gets your refund to you sooner.

If you paid for anything else when you booked, such as contents protection or a padlock, just ask us whether it’s refunded too.

How to cancel

You can cancel by phone, email or post, and you don’t need to give a reason. To help us find your booking quickly, tell us:

  • your name and address;
  • the date you booked;
  • your unit number.

Call us on 0800 2545585 or email hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk. If you’re close to the end of the 14 days, email is a good choice because it gives you a dated record. If you phone, a quick follow-up email does the same.

If you booked at the site, or the 14 days have passed

The 14-day cooling-off period is for bookings made without visiting. If you signed up in person at the site, or the 14 days are up, you can still leave whenever you need to: just give us notice, which is normally 14 days, by emailing hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk. Our minimum stay is two weeks, and we refund any unused days you’ve paid for once the unit is empty and checked. If you want to go before your notice runs out, leaving sooner than your notice period has its own short answer.

If you looked round a site first and then booked online later, give us a call and we’ll confirm how your booking is treated.

Not sure yet?

If your plans have shifted, call us on 0800 2545585 and we’ll tell you exactly where your booking stands. If you’re still deciding, you can get a price online, knowing the 14 days are there if something changes.
