Bridging storage is storage that holds your belongings in the gap between leaving one home and moving into the next, usually because the completion dates on a sale and a purchase don’t line up, or a chain is delayed. It has nothing to do with a bridging loan, which covers a gap in money rather than a gap in dates.
At Wigwam
A bridging stay is ordinary self storage on our usual rolling agreement, which suits a move where the end date isn’t fixed yet:
- Our minimum stay is just two weeks, and there’s no long contract after that. Your storage carries on, paid every four weeks, until you give notice.
- Notice is normally 14 days, as shown on the front page of your agreement. Just email us your end date. Once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund any days you’ve paid for but don’t use.
- New customers don’t pay a deposit. You pay your first four weeks in advance, plus contents cover if you take ours.
- Access is 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, which covers an early start with the removals van and a late finish. There’s free parking while you unload, and free trolleys to use.
When you don’t know the end date yet
That’s normal for a bridging stay, and it’s fine. Book from the day you need to move out, and hold off giving notice until your completion date is fixed. If the chain slips after you’ve given notice, call us before your end date and we’ll agree a new date with you in writing.
If a removals firm is loading in for you, someone from your side needs to be there while they work, because our sites don’t take in deliveries.
