Fire detection is the set of devices, such as smoke detectors and heat detectors, that sense the early signs of a fire and raise the alarm, so people can get out and the fire can be dealt with before it spreads. In a large building, detectors are usually linked to a central fire alarm panel.
At Wigwam
Our storage buildings have fire and smoke detection systems, and our sites meet fire and safety regulations. Just as important is stopping fires starting at all, which is why the same rules apply to every customer: nothing flammable, no fuel or gas bottles, no aerosols, and nothing that gives off fumes. Our units have no power sockets, so nothing is left plugged in or charging.
If the worst did happen, everything stored needs contents cover, and our contents protection covers fire, lightning and explosion, settled new for old.
What you can do
- Keep fuel, gas bottles, paint and aerosols out of your unit, and run petrol mowers dry before they go in.
- Store lithium batteries within our limits, undamaged and with space around them.
- Make sure the value you declare for cover is the full replacement value of what you store.
