The total in your quote is the price you pay: VAT isn’t added on top at checkout. Your quote sets out every amount before you pay anything, so you can see exactly what your first payment covers.
What your quote covers
When you book, you pay your first four weeks’ storage in advance, plus contents cover if you choose ours. New customers don’t pay a deposit, and there’s no set-up or admin fee. The total in your quote is simply those amounts added together.
After that, storage is charged every four weeks, from the date your storage started. We email your invoice 5 to 7 days before each payment, with the full details of the charge, so the amount never comes as a surprise. You can pay by credit or debit card or by Direct Debit, and once either is set up, each payment is taken automatically on its due date.
Comparing our price with another quote
The fairest comparison is the total you’ll actually pay. When you look at other prices, check the words next to the figure. “Inc VAT” means the tax is already in. “+VAT” or “ex VAT” means it isn’t, and at the standard rate of 20% that adds a fifth: £50 +VAT is £60 to pay. Two prices that look close can be quite different once that’s added, so it’s worth comparing totals rather than headline figures.
If you’re storing for a business
If your business is VAT-registered, you may want to reclaim the VAT on your storage, and for that you’ll need the right paperwork. Call us before you book and we’ll tell you what your invoice will show. Our guide to VAT invoices for business storage explains how invoices work, and your accountant can advise on what you can reclaim.
