How much does student storage cost?

Most students only need a small unit or a locker, and you pay only for the weeks you use. On our October 2026 price lists, the middle price for a 25 sq ft unit was £21.25 a week, so a 13-week summer came to £276.25 and a 16-week one to £340, before any offer and before contents cover.

Prices vary from town to town, so get a price online to see today’s figure at the site nearest your university or your home.

Which size most students need

A 25 sq ft unit holds roughly a spare room’s worth, or a few pieces of furniture and some boxes. If you have less, some of our sites have smaller units, such as 16 sq ft, and lockers, which cost less than a bigger unit at the same site. If you’re sharing with a housemate or storing a little furniture, 35 sq ft or 50 sq ft gives you more room. Our student storage page shows the options, and we’re happy to help you choose.

What changes the price

  • The town. In October 2026, a 25 sq ft unit ran from £44 to £188 every four weeks across our sites’ lists, so where you store makes a real difference.
  • The offer. Our sites often run an introductory offer on your first weeks. In October 2026, offers included 50% or 75% off the first eight weeks, which can cover a large part of a summer. Student offers are set site by site too: in September 2026, for example, our Lincoln site listed an extra student discount on its smallest 16 sq ft unit. Your quote shows what applies.
  • How long you stay. The minimum stay is two weeks, so a short Easter or Christmas break works as well as a whole summer.

We review prices regularly, often monthly on selected sizes, so treat these figures as a guide.

How paying works

New customers pay no deposit. You pay your first four weeks in advance when you book, plus contents cover if you take ours, and then every four weeks after that. If you already know when you’ll be back, you can email your notice (normally 14 days) to hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk on the day you sign up, and we refund any days you’ve paid for but not used once the unit is empty.

Your things need contents cover while they’re stored. That can be our contents protection or your own policy, if it covers belongings in self storage, so it’s worth checking your family’s home insurance first.

If a parent is paying

A parent can book the unit and share access with you through smart entry, for a set period or with no end date, so you can drop off and collect your things yourself. (At Chipping Norton, which uses padlocks, they share access by giving you the key and access code.)
