A tail-lift is a powered platform fitted to the back of a lorry or van that raises and lowers heavy goods between the ground and the vehicle’s load floor. It lets a driver unload a pallet, an appliance or a heavy crate without a forklift or a loading dock, and it’s often used together with a pallet truck to wheel the load on and off the platform.

At Wigwam

If you’re having stock, materials or furniture delivered to your unit, a tail-lift makes the day easy. There’s no forklift on site, so when you book a pallet delivery, ask the haulier for a vehicle with a tail-lift and a pallet truck, and book it for a time when you, or someone you’ve shared access with, can be there to meet it and check the goods before signing. Our business storage page explains how units work for stock.

For a pallet or a large lorry, call us before you book so we can check the delivery will work at your site. A ground-floor unit is the easiest choice for pallets, because the load can roll straight from the tail-lift to your door. At Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster you can also rent drive-up units and external containers, where the vehicle parks right beside the door.

Free trolleys are at every site for everything else. Tell us what’s coming on 0800 2545585 and we’ll help you plan it.
