An outdoor unit is a storage space whose door opens straight onto the open air rather than an indoor corridor, such as a steel shipping container or a drive-up unit. You can usually park right beside the door and load straight from your vehicle.
At Wigwam
At Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster, we have a limited number of drive-up units and outdoor containers, so ask us what’s free when you book. At Chipping Norton and Shipston-on-Stour, the containers sit in an access-controlled compound and are insulated to help stop condensation. Ask us how your unit locks when you book, so you know whether to bring a padlock.
Elsewhere, our units are indoor units: purpose-built rooms inside our buildings, behind access-controlled doors, each with its own alarm.
Outdoor or indoor?
An outdoor unit suits bulky furniture, tools, equipment, and anything you’ll be loading from a van often. Because steel follows the weather more closely than a room inside a building, pack everything clean and completely dry, lift it off the floor and use breathable covers. For household boxes and anything you’d rather keep inside a building, an indoor unit is often the better choice.
