A minimum stay, also called a minimum term, is the shortest period a storage agreement can run. You pay for at least that period, even if you move your things out sooner; after it, the agreement usually carries on until you give notice.
At Wigwam
Our minimum stay is just two weeks. After that there’s no long contract to tie you in: your storage carries on until you give notice, which is normally 14 days, and we refund any days you’ve paid for but don’t use.
If you already know you only need short-term storage, give us your notice on the day you sign up. Your two-week minimum and your notice then run side by side, rather than one after the other. Say you need somewhere for ten days between selling and buying: you’d book your unit, email us your end date two weeks ahead on the same day, and have the full two weeks to move in and out at your own pace.
New customers pay their first four weeks’ storage in advance, plus contents cover if you take ours. Once you’ve moved out and we’ve checked the unit, we refund the unused days, so on a two-week stay you only pay for the time you’ve had the unit.
Minimum stay or notice period?
The minimum stay is the least time you pay for. The notice period is how far ahead you tell us you’re leaving. Giving notice on day one is how you make the two overlap.
If your dates aren’t fixed yet, you can wait to give notice until you know. Get a price online, or call us on 0800 2545585 to talk your dates through.
