The cheapest storage near you depends on your town, the size you need, how long you’ll stay and the offer running at the time, so the only fair test is the total cost of your stay, compared like for like. Prices really do vary: even across our own sites, a 100 sq ft unit ranged from under £35 to £131 a week on our October 2026 price lists.
How to compare storage quotes fairly
- Same size. Compare square feet with square feet. At some sites, upper-floor units cost less than the same size on the ground floor, so ask about both.
- Four-weekly or monthly. A four-weekly price is paid 13 times a year, a monthly one 12 times. To compare, multiply the four-weekly price by 13 and divide by 12: £80 every four weeks works out at about £87 a month.
- The offer and the standard price. Check how long an introductory offer lasts and what you’ll pay once it ends. For a short stay the offer matters most; for a long one, the standard price does.
- Contents cover. Your belongings need to be covered while they’re stored. Ask what cover costs for the value you’re storing, or check whether your own policy covers goods in storage.
- Deposit and fees. Ask about any deposit, set-up or admin fee, and whether you need to buy a padlock.
- VAT. “Inc VAT” means it’s already in; “+VAT” adds a fifth at the standard rate.
- Leaving. Check the minimum stay, the notice period and whether you get unused days back.
Then add it all up for the length of time you expect to store. That total is the real price.
How we keep your total clear
- New customers pay no deposit, and there’s no set-up or admin fee.
- Your quote shows every amount before you pay, and nothing is added at checkout.
- We charge every four weeks and email your invoice 5 to 7 days before each payment.
- Our minimum stay is two weeks. You give notice by email, normally 14 days, and we refund unused days once the unit has been checked.
- If we ever change your price, we tell you in writing first, and the new price only starts from a payment date at least 28 days later. If you’d rather not carry on, you can leave without charge before it applies.
