Every storage payment, including for business storage, comes with an invoice, which we email to you 5 to 7 days before the payment is due. If your business needs that invoice to show VAT so you can reclaim it, call us on 0800 2545585 before you book and we’ll confirm exactly what it will show.
How invoicing works
Storage is charged every four weeks, from the date your storage starts, so you’ll have 13 invoices a year rather than 12. Each one sets out the full details of the upcoming charge and arrives a few days ahead, which gives you or your bookkeeper time to check it before the money leaves. Payments are taken by card or Direct Debit, and once either is set up, each one is taken automatically on its due date.
Your first payment covers your first four weeks’ storage in advance, plus contents cover if you choose ours. There’s no deposit for new customers and no set-up fee, and nothing is added at checkout: the total in your quote is what you pay.
Please keep the email address on your account up to date, so invoices go straight to whoever looks after your accounts.
What to check if you reclaim VAT
To reclaim VAT on a business expense, HMRC expects an invoice that includes the supplier’s VAT number and shows the VAT separately. When you call us, it’s worth asking:
- whether your invoice will show our VAT number and the VAT charged;
- whether it can be made out in your business’s name;
- how contents cover appears alongside the storage charge.
If you’re a sole trader or online seller, tell us when you book how you’d like the account named. If you keep some personal things in the unit too, your accountant can tell you how much of the VAT you can claim.
Already storing with us?
