Container unit

A container unit is a steel shipping container rented out as a storage unit. It usually stands outdoors in a secure yard, so you can park beside its doors and load straight from your car, van or trailer.

At Wigwam

We have container storage units at Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster, in three sizes:

  • 80 sq ft at Chipping Norton, a handy size for excess stock and business equipment;
  • 160 sq ft at Chipping Norton and Shipston-on-Stour, which can comfortably hold the contents of a three-bedroom home or a 7.5-tonne lorry load;
  • 320 sq ft at Warminster, ideal for excess warehouse stock and large business equipment.

Every container has drive-up access, so a house move or a run of stock goes in quickly, with no corridors in between. You can visit from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, and there are free trolleys to use.

Our container sites have CCTV monitored around the clock by a professional monitoring company and a secure perimeter. At Chipping Norton and Shipston-on-Stour the containers also sit in an access-controlled compound, and they’re insulated to help stop condensation. Ask us how your container locks when you book, so you know whether to bring a padlock on the day; our Box Shop sells a heavy-duty container padlock made for the job.

Container or indoor unit?

A container suits bulky furniture, tools and equipment, or anyone in and out with a van. An indoor unit sits inside a building, behind access-controlled doors, with its own individual alarm. Steel follows the weather more closely than a room inside a building, so pack with air in mind: raise things off the floor, leave gaps, and use breathable covers rather than sealed plastic.

We have a limited number of containers at each site, so ask what’s free. Get a price online, or call us on 0800 2545585.
