On our October 2026 price lists, the middle price works out at about 85p per square foot a week for a 25 sq ft unit, falling to about 45p for a 200 sq ft unit. The bigger the unit, the less each square foot costs, but you still pay for the whole unit, so the cheapest choice is the smallest size that fits what you’re storing.

Why the town matters too
The same size can cost very different amounts from one site to another. For a 100 sq ft unit, the lowest price on each site’s list in October 2026 ran from about 33p per sq ft a week (a restricted-height unit at Lincoln) to about £1.04 at Leatherhead. Where a site has more than one floor, a unit upstairs often costs less than the same size on the ground floor, so it’s worth asking about if an upper floor suits you.
Why per square foot isn’t the best way to choose
A bigger unit can look like better value per square foot, but if you only need 50 sq ft, a 100 sq ft unit still costs you more every four weeks. It’s usually better to start from what you’re storing:
- list the furniture and larger items, room by room;
- estimate how many boxes you’ll have;
- measure anything big or tall, such as a sofa or wardrobe.
Then tell us, and our team will help you work out the right size. If your needs change once you’ve moved in, you can switch to a bigger or smaller unit when one’s free.
What else to count
When you compare prices, check how often you’re billed. We bill every four weeks, so there are 13 payments a year rather than 12. New customers pay no deposit: you pay your first four weeks in advance, plus contents cover if you take ours. Some sites also run an offer on the first few weeks, which the quote shows.
