Yes. Each of our storage units is individually alarmed, with its own alarm and lock, so you’re the only one with access to your things. If your unit’s alarm goes off while you’re not on site, our security team will be on hand to investigate.
How it works day to day
There’s no separate alarm code to remember. When you unlock your unit with smart entry on your phone, its alarm switches off, and when you lock up again, the alarm is set. At Chipping Norton it works through the PIN you choose when you book: you enter it on arrival, and it sets and unsets your unit’s alarm.
Because locking up is what sets the alarm, it’s worth checking your unit is properly locked before you leave. If the alarm sounds while you’re there, or something doesn’t seem right, call us on 0800 2545585.
Part of a wider picture
Your unit alarm is one layer of the security at our sites. Our sites are watched around the clock by a professional CCTV monitoring company, and they have a secure perimeter and access control on the external doors. Our answer on CCTV has more.
At sites including Reading, Cheltenham and Lincoln, our security systems also log each time a unit is accessed. Businesses find this especially useful for keeping track of who went in and when. If you need that record for your business or your insurer, just ask us.
Sharing access without sharing a key
If a family member or colleague needs to get into your unit, you can share access with them through smart entry, for a set length of time or with no end date. They use their own phone, so you never need to hand over a key or a code. At Chipping Norton, you share access by giving the person the keys and access codes. Our guide to sharing access to your unit explains how.
Alarm and cover work together
An alarm is there to protect your unit, and contents protection is there to put things right if something ever goes wrong. Everyone storing with us needs cover, either ours or their own, so you have both working for you.
