Your unit is your own private space. Nobody else’s belongings go in it, it has its own lock and its own alarm, and only you, and the people you choose to share access with, can open it. What you share with other customers are the corridors, lifts, car park and toilet, the same way neighbours share a stairwell.
What’s yours
- Your unit. You rent the whole unit for your own things. You choose what goes in, how it’s arranged and who else can get in.
- Your own lock and alarm. Every unit is individually alarmed. When you unlock with smart entry, the alarm switches off; when you lock up, it sets again. If it goes off while you’re not on site, our security team investigates. At Chipping Norton, your own PIN and padlock do the same job.
- Your access. Day to day, our staff don’t open units for everyday reasons. You can give a family member or colleague their own access through smart entry, for a set time or with no end date, and call us to remove it.
What’s shared
The site around your unit is shared with other customers: the external doors, corridors, lifts, car park and toilet. The external doors have access control, so only customers and people they’ve shared access with can get in, and our sites are watched by CCTV monitored around the clock by a professional monitoring company.
Keeping shared spaces clear helps everyone, so take each load straight into your unit rather than leaving things in the corridor, and take rubbish home.
Can other people see in?
If you’d like to know how the units at your site are built, for example how high the walls go, call us on 0800 2545585 and we’ll tell you. Whatever the unit, nobody else can open it, and if you’d rather keep what you’re storing to yourself, boxes with plain labels on the side facing the wall keep things discreet.
Privacy and your details
