Are trolleys or sack trucks available on site?

Yes. Trolleys are free to use at every Wigwam site, and some sites also have pallet trucks. They’re there to help you move your things from your car or van to your unit, with less carrying and fewer trips.

Making the most of the trolleys

You can park for free in the customer car park while you unload, so you can load the trolley straight from your boot. A few tips make each run quicker and safer:

  • Load the heaviest boxes first and keep them low, with lighter ones on top.
  • Keep stacks to a height you can see over, and keep a hand on anything tall.
  • Make your first run a lighter one while you get the feel of the trolley.
  • Take each load straight into your unit, so the corridors stay clear for everyone, and pop the trolley back when you’ve finished.

Heavy furniture and appliances

A trolley carries the weight along the corridor, but someone still has to lift each piece on and off. For a sofa, a wardrobe or a fridge freezer, bring a friend to help, and if you have a sack truck or furniture dolly of your own, it’s worth bringing too. If you’d like a sack truck or pallet truck on the day, ask us whether your site has one before you travel.

If you’d rather not do the lifting yourself, we can recommend local removals and man-and-van firms who can help.

Drive-up units and containers

At Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster you can also rent drive-up units and external containers, where you park right beside the door and load straight in, often with no trolley needed at all.

Pallets and business deliveries

There’s no forklift on site, so for a pallet delivery, ask your haulier for a vehicle with a tail-lift and a pallet truck, and arrange to meet it. Our guide to storing goods on pallets explains how.

Planning your move

If your things are heavy or your unit is upstairs, tell us when you book and we’ll look for a ground-floor unit if that’s easier. Our moving-in guide covers the day itself.
