Our Box Shop sells four strong, double-walled cardboard boxes: Medium, Large, Extra Large and a Wardrobe Box with a built-in hanging rail. Use the Medium for heavy things like books, the Large for bulky light things like bedding, the Extra Large for tall or awkward items, and the Wardrobe Box for clothes on hangers.
The four boxes

The Medium, Large and Extra Large come singly or in packs of ten, which work out cheaper per box. In our moving kits, the Extra Large is called the “Tall” box.
Which size for what
Heavy things go in the Medium. Books are heavier than they look, so a smaller box keeps each one easy to lift. Put the heaviest items at the bottom and top up with something light, such as towels, so the box is full but still comfortable to carry.
Light, bulky things go in the Large. Bedding, cushions and folded clothes fill a big box without making it heavy.
Tall and awkward things go in the Extra Large. At 750mm high it takes lamps, tall décor, linens and awkwardly shaped items.
Clothes on hangers go in the Wardrobe Box. Hang them straight onto the rail and they travel and store without folding. At just over a metre tall it suits jackets, suits, shirts and most dresses; full-length coats and gowns may fold a little at the bottom.
Fragile things can go in any size, as long as each piece is wrapped and the box is filled so nothing moves.
Stacking in your unit
The Large and Extra Large share the same 450 x 450mm base, so they sit squarely on top of each other. Boxes of similar sizes stack more safely than a mix, so group them by size, keep the heavier ones at the bottom and label each box on more than one side. Moving kits
If you’d rather order everything in one go, there are three kits:
- Student Moving Kit: 10 boxes (5 Medium, 5 Large), packing tape and a marker pen.
- Standard Moving Kit: 25 boxes (10 Medium, 10 Large, 5 Tall), tape, a marker pen and bubble wrap.
- Large Moving Kit: 40 boxes (15 Medium, 15 Large, 10 Tall), tape, a marker pen and bubble wrap.
